This is a segment of some restorative work I did for HBO's Boardwalk Empire. Original camera negatives were first re-scanned in 4k, then mattes were created for all foreground elements to remove the blue screen. Lastly, all foreground elements were color corrected and composited to match VFX backgrounds. All compositing was done using Autodesk Flame at Cineric in NYC. All film scanning was done using Cineric's liquid wet gate film scanning technology.

This is a music video I finished for Atlantic Record’s new artist “Oh Honey.”  I did the editing, color grading and some minor compositing and VFX using Autodesk Flame. All footage was shot on RED and was kept in the native RED 5k resolution throughout the coloring and VFX pipeline.

This is a Christmas themed video I finished in Flame for the team at 1st Ave Machine / Field Day.  Starring and directed by Youtube celebrity Hazel Hayes and co directed by Anais La Rocca from 1st Ave Machine.

I did VFX and compositing on a few shots to seamlessly blend different camera takes. I also handled the color for the spot and did the media conform of the RED DRAGON footage. All work done using Autodesk Flame.

1ST AVE MACHINE

This is a “day-for-night” shot I fixed for the 2016 feature film “Split” by Deborah Kampmeier. A standard grading approach to pull off the “day-for-night” shot did not work due to excessive light blooming around the actor’s face and body. To remove this problematic light blooming, I first created a map of the scene’s brightest values and then set those values to act as negative lighting values in a new negative light blooming pass. Then, to clean up any remaining edge artifacts, I tracked small light sources with negative exposure values to areas around the shoulders and face. Finally, I added a light source with rays and some atmospheric fog to bring the whole composite together and give it some added depth.
